DUTCH UNCLES
DECIDED KNOWLEDGE
PRODUCTION: PLASTIC ZOO
Co-directed, shot and edited this video for friends Dutch Uncles back in 2015, working with Sam Alder and Luke Bather as part of Plastic Zoo. I'd been in Llandudno not long before this and became obsessed with it as a location. When singer Duncan said he didn't want to be the star this time, we thought of the next best thing...

THE ALLEYNIAN
DULWICH COLLEGE
PRINT PUBLICATIONS (2012-2022)
The Alleynian is ostensibly a school magazine, but it's nothing like any magazines I remember from my school. It's a 200 page tome filled with articles and analysis from some frighteningly intelligent kids, ranging from politics to field trips to the Andes. Each one editorialised, proof-read and printed as if you'd pick it up from Waterstones.
I started this project after I'd finished uni and it was one I'd keep coming back to every year for a decade. It allowed me to utilise some design and layout skills that would otherwise lay dormant. I was given quite a lot of creative freedom – save for the covers, which I didn't have much say on – and as simple as it would be to replicate formats from previous issues, it was exciting to concoct different themes each year.
Working with changing staff and student editors for each issue meant having to communicate design and production strategies really clearly, as the lead times were always short, articles were usually late and my full-time commitments to my actual job limited me to evenings and weekends. I'm proud to have put together so much work on my own.
Here are some highlights from the last three editions I designed. Click through for links to the full online versions.

PRINT PUBLICATION
This is where I'll write a short bio about the film and my roles in its production. In this case, I did the design and edit, as well as the online.
LIIMA
ROGER WATERS
PRODUCTION: PULSE FILMS
I've always had conflicted feelings about this one. On one hand, it was great working with a super talented crew, as well as the team at Pulse, 4AD and Electric Theatre Collective – but on another (more despondent) hand, it was the most challenging shoot of my life. Life lesson: the north is a very cold and wet place in February.
THEN THICKENS
TINY LEGS
PRODUCTION: PLASTIC ZOO
Made with a budget of about £15, this is an old but still fun one – mostly thanks to a great performance from Joe Gilgun (This Is England, Brassic, Preacher). I still love the old DIY ethos that technical quality is secondary to a good concept. Having access to one of the best young actors in the country helps a little bit too.
